UVC disinfection obeys the dosage principle (time x radiation output). The radiation itself obeys the optical laws, i.e. the greater the distance to the source of radiation, the weaker the energy. Up close, the time window is only microseconds to seconds. This depends on the efficiency of the UVC source and the lethal dose for the microbes.
